I am doing bedford autodrome in May. I have a focus st 2007 with intercooler, remap and milltek cat back. People tell me my brakes will melt as they're standard. It's my first track day, so any advice would be welcome. Thanks

I took my mk1 RS on last year, standard brakes, found that after awhile it was quite a sudden change from working to nothing
Don't go too hard at it to start with and you will be fine

For the cost you can't go wrong with changing the pads for something a bit better at the very least.

Thanks guys. Any ideas which track pads are decent? I dont want to spend a lot to have to change them again after the day. Will probably need new discs anyway afterwards

I've done a couple of trackdays in my ST. The car is standard, save for some stickier tyres!

I used the OEM ford brake pads, and they seem to work fine. I'd suggest you make sure there is plenty of meat on the pads prior to the day. Turn off the ESP, as that uses the brakes and can use up your pads very quickly!

Get some decent uprated brake fluid in the system, as that will stop the pedal going to the floor during some hard use. I've survived on standard brake fluid for my track days without loosing the brakes, but as your car has more power, I think the extra margin afforded by uprated fluid will be of benefit to you as you'll be going faster!

Have a great time on track!
