Has been a while since I was in the world of carbs, but I remember buying a replacement auto choke Weber for a Sierra 2.0 DOHC. That was around 1996 and the cost was approx. £250. But back then they were easily sourced from decent motor factors.

Looking on the Weber reseller site, there is a somewhat pricey (out of stock) replacement carb kit for the 1.6 OHC http://www.fastroadcars.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=v... and does detail the carb model as Weber 32/36 DGV 5A am guessing the air filter would be the matching K&N for that carb model.

Something like the 32/36 would make it more like gt/sport spec or you could go for the 38 DGAS (I think that the right one) although I would be tempted to go for a nice srt of twin webers - they sound fantastic and stop the car feeling like its ran out of breath.

Glad to read that. I had years of trawling though scrappys looking for replacement carbs for my Sierras, mainly 1.6 and 2.0 OHCs. When my DOHC's carb died and nearly threw me into the windscreen (I did have my seatbelt on too) I decided I couldn't take another trawl through Twigworth's Scrapyard so opted to shell out for a new unit. Was like a different car once I replaced the cruddy Ford thing with a Weber.

Look forward to your update.
