Ford Fiesta has high revs when changing gear
Discussion
Hello, recently my Fiesta (Fiesta Mk6 1.25 Petrol) has been playing up, when the engine seems to get hot, at least it's hot when it starts to begin, my car will start to have high revs while changing gear even if I am nowhere near the accelerator, this in turn begins to make my car jolt forward (Especially from first to second). This doesn't happen all the time and not on every trip I do. I work in a garage myself and I have checked for any updates and I have downloaded the newest ones on, it also had a water leak that was dripping onto one of the looms but that it all fixed now and the loom is still in good working order, but the problem still arises, does anyone have any idea's?
Thank you.
Thank you.
I've had this issue before on one or two cars (funnily enough also on a Fiesta, albeit not a Mk. 6...)
Its usually the 'throttle damper' - a common fault on Fords - try Googling for it.
Sometimes it can be sorted by removing and cleaning it. Sometimes not.
Some owners remove it altogether.
As I said, have a Google round for Ford Throttle Damper Problems and you'll find a wealth of information.
HTH.
