ST170 - alternator help

Hi

Hoping somebody can help as it's very urgent.

Driving today and car lost all electrics, rev counter etc, gauges, everything stopped working, eventually after 10 mins of driving it cut out and obviously now doesn't turn over, which I think means alternator is dead.

Car is on 2002 plate, which alternator do I need? 80 amp or 140 amp? About £100 price difference!!

Is it easy to change it for an amateur mechanic? Any special tools? Or if I was to get my mechanic to do it, how many hours labour do you think it will take?

Output depends if you have the heated front screen, be aware the output is controlled by the PCM on these, I haven't had to replace mine however doesn't look like a bad job. I would estimate about 1 hours work.
