I have an ST Estate and over slightly uneven washboard type surfaces there is a very annoying rattle coming from the back of the car.

I havn't had time to explore yet but I am wondering if it is the exterior plastic covering on the tailgate or could it be something else?

I have been thinking about removing the plastic trim and filling it with foam and putting some foam under the number plate too.

Has anybody else had this?

The car is 2 years old and has done 19k.

I part chopped my Focus ST 3 Estate in January - I had a rattle coming from the back passenger side - near the fuse box in the rear - or so I thought.

Never found the issue and it drove me mad.

Tried padding out the rear seat belt pulley, wasn't that. Tried padding our the head lining, wasn't that. Took the spare wheel out, wasn't that. Tried various padding, still did it.

Hmmm. Mine sounds more like it's the whole back end shaking.

To be honest between this, the sync issues and the tiny fuel tank giving only 300 miles of range. I'm beginning to get a bit feed up with it. Fantastic car to drive but probably not the best tool for 20k a year.
