Strange noise from Ford Mondeo ST TDCI

Afternoon,

I'm hoping someone can help! I've got a strange noise from my 2006 Mondeo ST TDCI.

Does anyone know what is wrong? And what the rough cost will be?

It sounds like an aux. belt issue, these have automatic tensioners which are pretty prone to wear / failure & can cause quite a bit of noise, especialy at idle. The power steering pump runs on the aux. belt, so puts additional load on the belt when turning the steering wheel, increasing the noise. On some you can see the belt slapping about when the noise is apparent.

Repair kits are available with tensioner, pulleys & belt for around £100, job takes about 2 hours - plenty of walkthroughs of the job available online.
