Are there any tried-and-tested engine swaps for a petrol Mk3 Transit to make it so that's it's not slower than walking?

2.1 Pinto I'm assuming? I would have expected that to be fairly nippy in a mk3 Transit, my sister had a mk2 camper with a 2.0 pinto and whilst not the fastest thing it never seemed underpowered. If the engine is in good health (mixture/timing settings ok, carb not worn out, cam lobes not worn flat) and it still doesn't have enough shove then a 3.0 Essex will bolt straight in IF you can find the parts.

BOA/BOB Cosworth V6 was a popular swap I think. The only MK3 Transit I ever drove had a 1.6 Pinto from a Sierra nailed in, SWB van was fine.

Dire engine. Put the 2.0 YB in. If your current engine is pinto based, the YB will swap right in. Only downside is they are now starting to command some prices...

I'm fairly sure I saw one with an AMG 6.2 sitting in it - unfortunately I can't find the pic frown

They were commanding prices when I almost bought a Monte, 8 years ago, never mind now!
