Hi all, anyone got the new fiesta st and can say if it sounds good? Obviously its 3 cylinder so a bit different to the usual 4 cylinder.

Heard a few comments about it sounding like a baby v6, like an m4 etc etc, obviously at the moment i cant really test drive one and youtube doesent really capture the sound much either.

I prefer the sound to a four but I’m going to stop short of comparing it to a six.

Can't speak for the ST, but I've driven the 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta and quite liked the "thrumming" sound from the 3 pot. I imagine the ST is a nice step up, plus a bit more of an exhaust note to add?

But ultimately it doesn't matter what other people think. Some here will like it, and then again you'll get the usual cylinder snob brigade who will deride anything with 4 or less coming on to tell you it's crap biggrin

Optimistic, to say the least.

If you plug one ear it may sound a bit like a six

Some people have compared it to half a porsche engine. It sounds pretty good imo but nothing special and I've never owned a porsche so would know

I don't know what it sounds like but there is an orange one outside the local Ford dealer and it looks really nice

with the dark alloys on it.

Having spent a while near a Ford Tech centre (where everyone either has a Fiesta or Focus ST), the Fiesta ST's sound is relatable to a 6 (It's a 3, so it would be).

It doesn't sound bad, but I don't think anyone will be confusing it with a Porsche flat 6 though

I have a Focus with the 3 pot - I'd call it a characterful thrum....with a kind of muted bark when poked. Quite a long way off being a 6 of any kind though.
