Escort Cosworth Air Bypass Valve?

Odd question but how do i check if the Air bypass valve is working as it should?

if i take it off the car should it seal or reain open?

Presuming this is the AMAL valve under the slam panel? Is yours a large or small turbo version, I think they are different so may "open" at different pressures. I think the large outlet should be shut if disconnected.

The valve I’m talking about is more or less on top of the throttle body I should have said forgot there was another one.
