Does anyone have contact details for a club that caters for the 'standard' Mk1 Escort?

I have found details for the AVO, RS and more modern versions, but nothing that specifically deals with the more humble models.

Thanks in advance.

Any reason why you want one that specifically deals with more standard/none-sporting Escorts? Is it a particular Escort (1300e) or just a base model?

The 'Sporting Escort Owners Club' deals with ALL rwd Escorts, which is the closest I know to what you're looking for.

The reason I ask is because I am helping a friend gather the required parts for their restoration of a Mk1 1300GT.

And am looking for good sources for the more standard parts, either second hand or reconditioned. And also for a supplier of replacment panels.

Well, the 1300GT is a bit of a rare beast, so wouldnt say it was a 'humble' model. The Sporting Escort Owners Club will be able to help you gain parts, but your best option is probably to browse Classic Ford magazine.

I have a lot of links bookmarked that might be of some interest if you want me to post them here?

You shouldnt have that much problem finding most parts, but to get original rather than pattern parts will cost. Also the 1300GT had a few bits that were specific to that model (and maybe the 1300e too, cant remember exactly) so some bits are getting scarce.

Cheers, Greg.

Very friendly bunch, do everything Ford. The Old Skool section is very good for info on MK1 Escorts.

Yep.. been a member on Turbosport for about 5 years!

Generally more about modding than restoring back to original stuff.

Hi there, There was a "mk1 Escorts owners club" based in Essex some years ago, but it was rubbish, and most of the committee were misfits. You're much better off with the "Sporting Escorts owners club" www.seoc.co.uk as they cater for ALL rwd escorts now. and they're a mega club, recognised by insurance companies, etc.
I have lots of mk1/2 bits for sale, as well as 3 mk1's, a 1600sport, 1300 van, and a Dormobile elba camper van, last two tax-exempt. I also have a tax-exempt identity from a K-reg.

musicalman ! The former chairman of the Escort Mk1 Owners Club I know personally, he stood down for someone new to inject some fresh ideas into the club because he was Chairman for 6 years. Then the club went down hill and slid into chaos and collapsed. How DARE you say what you said. Peter Ridgewell also knew the Chairman of the Escort Mk1 Owners Club and I doubt he would appreciate your comments as they were good friend also.
Good news is that the Escort Mk1 Owners Club is starting up again with the former chairman, he hope he can rebuild the relationship with other owners club that he once had and again be an integral part of the classic car seen again!

I was a member of the Mk1 Escort owners club at the time of its collapse. I was at the agm meeting at Powderham castle in 2000 when it disbanded following a call from Larry in the May/June 2000 magazine stating that he, Keith (The spares secretary) & Carol (Magazine editor) wanted to stand down & anyone wanting to takeover the 3 roles make themselves known.
At the meeting nobody wanted to takeover any of the positions so it was decided to disband the Mk1 Escort owners club.

Larry gave the option of a refund to anyone that wanted their money back (A few people did) & any remaining monies in the mk1 Escort owners club kitty be donated to Great Ormand Street childrens hospital.

I've recently been giving some thought to possibly restarting the Mk1 Escort owners club but see above that it is already being done (By Larry?).
Any ideas when this will be happening?

Looking for help again.....

Another friend is restoring his Mk1 Mexico, and is lokking for a particular panel, with no joy so far.

In his words, he is after.... "the rear quarter repair for the offside (it fits behind the rear wheel and stretches under the fuel tank)."

Any help much appreciated.
