You could get a non oem one for £300 then it's labour costs from a garage.

Is it the cat or the flexi that needs replaced.

I’m told cat by original garage , no mention of flexi pipe , Ford have said they want to do there own diagnosis as there’s no eml light on at present ( £160 ) , then £1340 ish if there diagnosis says cat .

We did one a few weeks ago, it worked out around £1000 fitted - depending how easy it comes apart roughly 1 to 1.5 hrs

You are better off getting used one from eBay

Just to add the aftermarket ones are rubbish, they do not line up. They don’t normally fail, this was replaced because it failed the emissions and eml was on. Is there is a reason why it needs replacing

Ok won’t get a aftermarket one , thankyou
Story starts 6 months ago with a eml light comming on , diagnosed as catalytic converter issue , warranty people asked for more tests but then the eml light went out so we decided to drive it and see what happens .
6 months later the eml light came on and again was diagnosed as catalytic converter issue , they went back to warranty people but in meantime I went to Cornwall , eml light on the 300 miles down there , car running fine , 2 days into the hol the light went out and stayed off for rest of the week & the 300 miles home , then a day later came on , stayed on for 2 days then went off & has stayed off since , garage then said warranty people were refusing claim ( still wrangling about this ongoing) .
I then thought I’m not going to get anywhere with the warranty as it’s done 100,000 + theres a part that says not covered due to general wear & tear , so went to fords to just see what they cost , they said they won’t fit one without diagnosing the fault themselves as I might be wasting 1,000 + on a catalytic converter while it’s not the issue , mechanic had a quick listen and said car sounds fine , and noted no eml light on , but said it needs a proper diagnosis , that’s where we are .
Nb but I’ve no idea if it’s related but the car has had 3 lots of oxygen sensors in my 3 yrs of ownership
Mot is not due until end of sept but I’ve booked it in a week to just see what it does emissions wise .
