mondeo mk3 power loss

can anybody tell me why my mondeo mk3 1.8 is more responsive when cold than hot, as soon as it gets to running temp the car just gives up, untill it gets to 3000 revs then it takes off like a rocket.. this duratec engine is not a patch on my old 99 zetec mondeo.. cheers... BK
