Mondeo Trip problem

My trip is playing up. sometimes it works for a bit, other times it just sits at zero then starts when it feels like it and zero's itself when it gets bored.
Speedo and mileometer work fine but this gets on my nerves. Anyone had a similar problem and figured it out????

What year's the car? Is it mechanical or digital?

Its a 2002 1.8 lx, digital display.

For info, I couldnt find your post on MEG with a quick search. If you havent already, try posting it in the Duratec 4cyl Mk3 section and see if it gets moved from there
