Electric Seats
Discussion
Guys, been' watchin this forum for years but never had to post, alas now I must.
I got some 2nd hand leather electric seats for my 03 mondeo tdci 130. I have managed to swap the driver seat put the passenger seat presents me with a dilemma.
The electric seats have an official looking shorting connection with big AA letters on a label between connections C61a and C61i on the connection block under the seat. On the original seat these go to the seat occupancy module. Easy, thinks, move the module across to the elect seat eh! Alas, there the seat occupancy sensor also connects to the beltminder module.
Does any one know if the sensor can be removed and fitted to the elect seat somehow? I tried pulling on the wires but it seems quite firmly in place.
The other option is to snip the wires to the sensor and disable the beltminder alarm for the passenger seat. I believe there is a sequence of seat belt buckle operations which can achieve this. But does anyone know how the seat occupancy sensor works. Is it a solid state affair with transistors etc or a simple pressure switch, in which case is it open circuit on occupancy or closed cct?
If I fit the seat with the shorting strap in, I get the airbag warning flashing 3 times.
I know there is a wealth of knowledge out there so any pointers are appreciated.
