2.5 v6 autobox woes

Hi chaps.
Got a mondeo v6 ghia x bought for lemans and i`m in a bit of bother.

Basicly the overdrive light on the dash keeps flashing on and off.

It only happens about twice a week but when it comes on it changes gear very violently,ten minutes later it goes off and it changes gear perfectly.

Any ford tech boys on here know?

Do i dare risk it to france in two weeks?

Which Mondeo is it? Ii it's a mark 1, then they are notoriously fragile...like most ford autoboxes!

It`s a mk 2.

So far as I know, about the only thing you can do to it without major investigation is check the autobox fluid level and perhaps change it. So its worth a try!
