FocusRS. What spec/colour?
Discussion
Just been asked to confirm colour for my new RS. Choices are Blue, White and Green. Don't want Tree Frog Green but was torn between other two. In the end went for Ford Blue. Every time I see a white one I'll wish I went for that but I don't think I'll ever get tired of the blue whereas I know there would be occassions where I wanted something more subtle than white if I went that route. What's everyone else going for?

Did the dealer give you any indication of delivery?
No, but he did say that at this stage all Ford wanted to know was colours and that any future contact would be from Ford direct. I get the feeling it may be sooner than originally thought. Here's hoping.Did the dealer give you any indication of delivery?
I do like the Green too but I intend to keep this car for ever and feel that Blue - and maybe White - will become classics whereas the Green may just have a short 'novelty' life.

I suspect that the green will not age well initially, but will be considered a classic in 30 years time. I think you did the right thing going for blue. White looks good, but it's a b
h to keep clean.Pugsey - Who have you been speaking with about your order?
My dad has been in contact with a Neil Beeby @ Arnold Clark via email and he is keeping my dad in the loop...
Neil knows my dad is serious about placing an order, but he hasn't been approached about the required specification yet.
ps. My dad wants a white one. A bugger to keep clean, but with a professional detailer as a son, he's just going to pass on the duty

Sales manager at main dealer in Basingstoke - forget their name. They haven't asked me to spec the car in detail yet just said that Ford want to know what colour I want. I suspect it'll be like the ClioV6 was in that Renualt did the same thing and then produced the car in batches of one colour at a time, starting with the most popular. Sadly that meant that, even if your's was the very first order to be placed, if you went for the least popular colour then you got a later car.My dad has been in contact with a Neil Beeby @ Arnold Clark via email and he is keeping my dad in the loop...

I put a deposit down yesterday.
In terms of specifics, there was nothing for me to fill out. There was however a 'register of interest form' which asked questions about colours - blue, white or kermit + choice of 3 or 4 'packs'. Bascially you give your details to Ford and they will keep you in the loop.
To be honest, I thought that particular form was more about Ford learning what colours people are interested in, there was nothing on the form about it actually being an order form - just registering for more news.
Dealer took no details of my order as they cant place any orders yet. Im just on the list for when they can. I will confirm specifics nearer the time - will want black, but if thats not an option think Blue is the long term safe bet.
Seems like I was number 5 on the dealers list - looks like its going to be a popular car.

Taken from another forum :
"The New Focus RS prospect Interest Form reads this in section 2......
This part of the Form is to register interest to the exciting New Focus RS, it does not form a commitment to contract an exact specification vehicle order, we would however like an indication of your interest preferences to support Ford Motor Company Limited's vehicle supply."
I do believe those of you that think you are number whatever on a list or have an order in, have been a bit misled by your Ford Dealer ??
The Ford dealer that took a deposit must have some nuts to accept it, especially as they would have no idea what their allocation is or even know when production is going to start !!
Would have been better off leaving that money in the bank earning interest for you and not in theirs earning interest for them.

The deposit is relevant to dealer only i.e. as you point out dealer has no idea on production or allocation yet, however the deposit does mean that when orders are able to be processed you are at the top of the dealers list.
Given the small amount of interest you can earn on a £500 deposit it's worth a punt to be ahead of the demand in my opinion.
Time will tell if it was the right call to make, but demand is going to be high it seems.
