Mondeo diesel running like a tractor!

Hi. I am posting this for a mate. He has a 2 ltr 52 plate Mondy and now and again it runs like a tractor. He sent the car in before and it cost him £400 to sort but acting up again. He says that the heaters on this car are on all the time and that is what gives it the 130bhp.

Is there a common problem with diesel Mondys that gives this result?

Any help would be appreciated.

EGR valve, Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Fault code read time would be best bet.

btw injector failure seems very common which causes rough running. Big bills time if it's that.
