It will cost you a fortune, your insurer will hate you and you'll end up with a car that's not as fast as you want it to be. Sell it and put the engine money to a Mk 1 Focus 2 litre.

you would never have to tell your insurers, as nobody knows they are there and they were on the car when you bought it. better just dropping in a 2litre engine though as its easy and then start from there. also you would never know the difference as they look the same.

Spotted the flaw in that argument yet?

well a 2 litre focus is going to be around 3 grand i`d of thought, and the escort is probably a grand and then about 3 to 4 of hundred quid for the engine and for it to be fitted so i take it the flaw is not cash wise. so i can only assume that the flaw you speak of is that the focus is dynamically superior which it is, but then there is about £1500 in it. but then it depends if on the condition of the escort, the condition of the focus and the mileage which you would get in the price you would spend, and also how much money has been spent on the escort which would not be able to be recouped by selling it (suspension/exhaust etc etc). so it depends on many factors.

so what was THE flaw you speak of? as neither of us know the full details of the car.

The flaw would be not telling the insurance company.

Not worth playing this game, and Hammertime, I would recommend against advocating that on this forum.

IF you have an accident, and the car is a write off, not only do you run the risk of the Insurance not paying out for your vehicle, but what if the person you hit decides that they will call claims direct? You insurance company will pull backflips worthy of the Olympics to get out of paying.

Which you made easy for them, because you voided your own policy.

Your car £1500
Other car £3000
Bullst whiplash claim £7000

I would make a "Priceless" punchline here, but its a cliche. I think you get the point.

Not worth it.

well id like to see that, have known plenty of people with undeclared mods to have prangs and never heard of the garage that recieves the car telling the insurance company of them. probably because they love an insurance job as it rakes them in the money. but hey, each to their own.

you really think anyone has ever cracked open and engine after an accident to see if it has forged pistons or high lift cams etc? i doubt they would even know them if they saw them. and i dont think they will spend their own time and money finding out.
