Have to replace the rear anti roll bar drop links on a 99 Focus as the old ones are all loose and floppy. From a quick look it seems a fairly straight forward job. Are there any things I should be aware of before starting ?

OK for anyone who is interested they are indeed straight forward to swap ,took 20mins, the old ones had definitely seen better days. However the car still has a rear end thump over bumps. All the other bushes look ok and don’t show excess play, dampers look OK and appear to be working. Bouncing the car when stationary fails to produce the noise and it seems to drive normally. Any tips for what it may be ?

From reports in Car Mechanics magazine, traffic calming measures seem to be causing a lot of suspension problems now, with a large number of broken springs. I'm not saying this has happened in your case, but I suppose it is possible that they have been weakened and are now hitting the bump stops more. You used to be able to get spring assisters that make the spring harder to compress under heavy loads, they might be worth a go.
