help!! focus rs running problems

I have recently put a k&n gen2 kit and a full mongoose exhaust system on my standard focus rs, now it splutters+pops at 5000revs , wont tick over and is only boosting half way at the best of times!! what the hell is goin on???????????

Hi

I suggest resetting the ECU.

Remove the power lead off of the battery and leave disconnected for about 30mins, reconnect and drive as normal. It could take upto 200-300miles for the ECU to learn how the car is driven.

Only other suggestion i have is Dream Science or Bluefin, which will sort out the fueling issue.

But i think it just needs a ECU reset.

hi thanks for the advice, reset the ecu, slight immediate effects but after aprox 50 miles the car is going a lot better now, will have to run it in a bit more.

have been lookin at the dreamscience/bluefin etc, is there any concern installing one when i already have bolt-on mods that have changed airflow etc?? arent they pre-set for standard cars? or perhapse they might adapt and tweak its self to still achieve the best results?

you can get the dreamscience custom mapped to suit your car,or just install the dreamscience stratagem which is plenty quick enough for as it is.
with regards to your problem maybe you have knocked the maf sensor when installing the k&n they are very delicate.or there could be an air leak re check everything is on properly.

Does the Focus run a maf? The oil from the filter may have wrecked it.

I have a dreamscience, gen 2 and a decat and has transformed the car. If you get a dreamscience email manny through the dreamscience website and he will send you the settings to get the best from your car, I have done it and it also turns off the engine light which comes on when you decat them.
