Hi people,

I have an old M reg mondeo estate (I know what your thinking) its a petrol 1.8l. I only use it to go to the tip and its saved me a fortune in skips. However its just started to stall on me when i press the clutch down, but it dosnt do this every time only 'now and again' when changing down a gear!
Its started to get quite annoying and can be pretty dangerous if I'm turning as the engine cuts out and I lose any power steering.
Its almost as if there should be something to stop the revs drop below 500rpm but (sometimes) mine dosnt and it just cuts out. It always restarts.

Does anyone have the same problem?
Are there any quick fix suggestions?

Any answers appreciated.

IIRC there is a vac hose T connection under the plenum that can cause this. Either that or IAC valve.

IAC = Idle Air Control (Valve)

Definately a vacuum (air) problem you have. Not sure where the relevant bits are on the Mondeo sorry.
But I reckon it will be the Idle Air Control valve.

Possibly the idle control valve, its only two 8mm bolts and a multiplug to remove it, try cleaning it with carb cleaner beforehand, if that doesn't cure the problem a new one cant be much more than 20 quid from fords.
