xr3i to rst conversion

hi i have a 1990 xr3i efi and have bought and fitted a cvh rs turbo engine can i convert the loom or do i need a new loom pleas help im going mad no one knows how to convert the loom

Is it Escort or Fiesta turbo? As in, are you staying with EFi from FRST or have you gone for ERST/MFi?

Take the FRST loom and ECU if you can get it, saves hassle or look at aftermarket management. I had an XR2i engine and loom in the Quantum, and bought a complete car so I had the loom, ECU, fuel rail etc

Unplug the engine multiplug, took the loom out, put the replacement ones in (inc EDIS, CO Pot etc) connected the engine multiplug back up and that was about it. Swap the ECU as well. You'll need to do something about the exhaust (mine was a 2" XR2 one, the donor was 2 1/4" so ended up with a new Powerflow)

its an escort im going from efi to mfi im fed up with all of the things that go wrong in efi engines

I think that could be a step backwards, but each to their own

You may as well get an Escort loom, as you're not going to get anything out of the EFi CPS, plus you'll need a dizzy so half the EFi management wont be used

what do you mean need a dizzy what escort looms are compatable with the new engine. so are you saying the efi loom definatly wont work

OK, so the new engine you've put in. Does it use a coil pack or distributer?

You really need the ERST loom as far as I'm aware unless you're going to run it on aftermarket management (Cossie, Megasquirt, Pectel etc)

its all good now got my dizzy and new loom and ecu found a mate who knew more than i thought he did but thanks for the info i received
