rs turbo setup ? can anyone help ??
Discussion
iv got an rs turbo s2, has anyone got any info in setting it up, engine spec, low comp, stage 3 big valve head, piper t285 piper cam, 3" mongose exhaust, kn filter, pace intercooler, ecu chip, piper cam vernier, im just woundering what to set the ign timeing and co, and best way of ajusting co, im haveing a few probs with idle, ticks over at 500 rpm, and i cant seem to corect it withthe idle screw, thanks for any advise
Set ign timing to 12 degrees btdc fueling 1.5- 2.0% @ idle (rich but safer) then go from there as with any modded engine can take some messing around to get it right.
If it has a dump valve fitted take it off as these engines do not like them and no matter what type it is it will cause you problems.

From memory when I had my S1 RST the idle screw as you call it is not used to control the idle, it is used to help set up the throttle position switch, the idle speed is adjusted by a fairly big knurled headed screw under the throttle body and when doing so I think you have to disconnect the plug from the fuel pressure unit on the side of the metering unit.Good luck

ps Hope you guys dont mind me highjacking your forum

You sure? Mine seems to run great with the dump valve fitted. I thought this problem was rectified by Bailey years ago?I have probably just jinxed myself with the above statment
i know a bit about the car i put the complete engine and gearbox together, from every nut to the synro, i just wanted a besic set up befor trying to put it on roleing road,
yes the idle scew i ment was the big one under the throttle body, didntbrelise the you had to disconect the conector on the fuel metering unit, thanks for the help

Dump valve really are not needed at reasonable boost levels on the rst engine and are normally fitted for the noise.
