1.4 FIESTA ZETEC S OR CHICANE?? ANYONE HELP ME?

Just bought it part exchange for my car a 1.4 1997 p reg ford fiesta. On HPI it comes up as a 'chicane' but under the bonet is a 1.4 zetec s angine. Now has it had an engine change or do they put a zetec s engine in the chicane?
sorry this may be a stupid question but im a novice with fords.

I've got a 1.25 2002 fiesta and my engine has zetec s written on it too. I believe its the engine model even though there is a car model of the same name if that makes sense. I'm sure sombody will be along shortly who knows exactly!

The engine plate will have "Zetec" "Zetec s" or "Zetec SE" depending on the size/spec. The car you have, by the sounds of it is a Chicane, based on the 1.4Si, sports suspension, white dials, and electric pack, i suggest you find a nice B road and go for a blat, a very underestimated car, especially if it has the low profile rubber/alloys, the basic chassis was only mildly tweaked to become the Zetec S model, one of the best front wheel drive warm hatches around IMO.

Off topic here but.. Don't they do a zetec S 1.4, though its very rare, or was someone having me on?

Dont forget Zetec is a trim level as well as an engine

The chicane is the trim level, IE it may have air con, leather seats, heated front screen etc etc.

Zetec is the engine name, it may have Zetec S on the engine, or Zetec SE. This does not mean it is a zetec s.

Zetec S is also a trim level, different wheels, bodykit, bigger engine, different suspension and some other small changed.

All very confusing, but all Zetec s' are 1.6's with the bodykit. The amount of 1.25 LX's ive seen being sold as Zetec s' is rediculous :P
