All i can say is WOOOOOOOW!!!! looked amazing!

I was just wondering if you were local lads? If so.. fancy a meet up sometime?! Really intrested to see the cars properly!

If it was you, either post on here or PM me!

Hiya mate, cheers for the compliment. Sounds like you spotted us going on a bit of a blast biggrin. I was at the back with the PH Sticker and the STD wheels. I assume you were in the grey zetec with Wolf OTT's. Wolf done anything else to it?
We're both fairly local I'm just outside Wokingham. Our trips are getting rare now due to poor weather. Nice to be spotted smile

Nice that you've got a list mate (found you on FFOC btw, pm sent). Keep your list going biggrin
Yeah insurance does that, my gripe atm is the road tax.

My RS has
Bluefin
Full Primary Designs system inc ceramic coated manifold and sport cat
Forge actuator
Pro Alloy charge cooler
K&N filter with PumaSpeed intake pipe

samco hoses, magnecor leads and some other bits

making 281 BHP / 328lbft torque

haha yeahh good olf FFOC hey! Sweet pics... all those RS's in a line look mint!

i was going to say.. when u stuck your foot down before that blokey pulled out on you near farnborough college i knew it was a bit of a mean machine under the bonnet aswell as the shell! :O

I cant wait to start doing things to the engine.. Ive been tempted a few times to get it remapped and get an air filter but just never got round to it.. I'm not too great on the engine side of cars, but i'm looking to do a mechanics course sometime.

Yeah that Celica I think it was. Also got caught up behind an old biddy in a Yaris, where the road goes from 2 lanes into 3 she was driving down the white line taking up 2 lanes.

My first car was a 1.6 Seat Leon, I put a K&N 57i induction kit on it and Powerflow exhaust, insurance was £1.5k. Made a bit of difference car felt more responsive and sounded better, I then saved some money for a few yrs and got the RS biggrin

Not sure what the Focus mk2's are like engine wise but I've never had a problem fitting an induction kit on a car, but as its a common cheaper mod the insurance hike is big. Best mod insurance wise is exhaust, sport cat (decat)and manifold but costs a fair bit to buy and fit.

A remap would cost a few hundred quid but your gains on a 1.6 NA would be about 9bhp I'd have thought.

haha i know what it feels like to follow old biddys!! followed one from farnham to farnborough on the dual carriage.. parked in the fast lane!

Yeah does an air filter boost the insurance by much? everyone i talk to has one so it cant by much?

Only prob with my insurance is that its 2.5k as its the 115bhp zetec!!! (madness i know =()

Out of intrest how much would a sport cat / manifold cost? I'm in the mood for modding my baby.. but don't realy want it to kill me on the insurance!
By the sound of it remapping might be worth while then?
cheers mate

I found air filter was most expensive insurance to bhp mod. Prob because lots of people do it as its cheap to buy and easy to fit.

Looks like Milltek do manifold for £300 (claimed 6bhp)sport cat £305 [decat £44] (claimed 5-6bhp)exhaust £329 (claimed 5-6bhp).

Superchips give the following figures for £300
Ford Focus VVTi
2005 - 2007
Engine type : Non-Turbo Petrol
Engine size : 1596 cm3
Cylinders : 4

Original bhp : 115
Original nm : 155
BHP increase : 12
NM gain : 13
Lb/Ft gain : 10

Most insurance companies class mani, cat and exhaust in the same mod, so if you do your exhaust and tell them about it, it wont go up when / if you do mani and cat (I'd still tell them though).

By the looks of cost to performance remap seems pretty good, but like you said, insurance is steep for you any way. Keep in mind it's that price for a reason, I dunno how skilled a driver you are but your age and car obviously tick some warning boxes with the insurance company. You may also void your warantee with ford if you mod it, may be worth finding out about. Not trying to put you off modding but it's worth considering.

yeah im not one of these teens that drive round residential places at 100mph with loud music on.. but i have to admit i do like to get up to speed limits quickly..
I'm prob one of the only teens that thinks people that drive stupidly fast in built up paces are t0ssers but hey!

Yeah id defo look into it. I think i'm going to get the ms design kit (already ordered) and make it look nice and maybe wait 3 years to start doing bits to the engine as insurance would come down and i'd know my car like the back of my hand! (pretty much do now - SKID PANS ARE FUN!!)

Cheers for the advice Paul =D

Nice one mate, let me know how you get on. Get some pics up of the kit when you get it sorted!

Take care!

Hi all!

Paul can i ask , when you fitted the forge actuator to your rs could you feel the effects? My rs is still standard at the mo , tho av just got hold of a dreamscience unit biglaugh and samcos pipes / leads and from what i see your mods are the same as i plan to get!
Dump-valves would you recommend one? I had a baileys dv26 that i got from i friend but as you will already know it didnt run very well so just had to bin it!
I may have a rs but am not the best on engines / mods so sorry if these are silly questions

Hiya,

Dont worry about the questions mate, I can only tell you what I think though, for a better idea you should have a look on www.rsownersclub.co.uk (well worth registering imo and get your RS logged on the build list smile!)

I fitted manifold and actuator and got just under 40bhp extra (on the same rolling road) so yeah there was a noticable difference biggrin

I've got the std Bosch DV as with an induction kit you hear it alot more than std air box. If your gonna get an induction kit anyway then I'd give it a try with the std DV to start with and see what you think. But if you like frightening children and old ladies then you need a recirc DV as atmos ones cause probs think its the Bailey DV30 or Forge 007 that you need.

Happy modding mate! May also be worth finding out if your ECU is mapped with AE or AF as an AE mapped RS with similar mods as mine (without the manifold) got a bit more bhp. I'd have liked to change my map from AF back to AE but with Bluefin on its difficult, Dreamscience is better as you dont have to get it reset by the manufacturer.

Take care mate and happy modding biggrin careful in the wet though! wink

p.s. you may want to change your yellow coolant tank pressure cap (only about £5ish from Fords) as these are know to stop working properly and then you may blow a coolant hose, not worth the risk imo.

Thanks for the tips - Already signed up with the owners club - boy they guys know EVERYTHING!

40BHP not bad just for manifold - with these mods what the mpg like you think it deferred alot ? ?
Even when driving nice- If thats possbile in a FRS hehe

Yeah sure both dumpvalves you suggested work best - i did love that " granny scaring " noise! kinda miss it now.

Am interested in this "AE" or "AF" av heard about thia before , will this really matter once av set up the dreamscience unit? or howz best going about that? = ford for a service confused

Yeh think its time for a good polish / clean up and start using the little Zetec s i can use over the next month or 2 as are ill get in scotland is rain , rain , rain!

Its very funny how you said that paul about the yellow coolant cap - as av had a couple of coolant hoses blow not long after the last big run i did! Because i bought the full samco kit i got hold of the whole collant tank as mine was a little stained!

Once again thanks for the tips/help

Nice one, send me a pm (same username as on here)
40bhp was mani and actuator. I dont tend to worry about MPG mate...smile factor is what concerns me! If I was fussed about MPG I'd have got a diesel biggrin But mpg has ranged from 14 (a rather fun day!) to 33 (yawn!).

Apparently AF/AE does matter once you start modding, you can also get a 'cough', sudden loss of power with AF. Luckily mine seems fine.

Prob for the best to tuck her away, esp with grit and salt frown

Yeah it does turn a dodgy colour. Did the tank come with new cap?

No worries mate!
