Ford Focus Recall

I have just purchased a 2L focus 53plate and it has heated seats,the drivers side does not work.I have been told by a friend this was a recall on the focus.How do i check weather the recalls on my car have been done and if there are anymore outstanding?Hows all that recall stuff work??

More likely a TSB than a recall. If it's out of warranty you'll now have to pay.

Do you have to pay if its a recall? i thought a recall was free at any age of the car as its a known saftey fault.Thanks for the info so far
