My battery has just died and I need a new one. Halfords replacement is £75, but some online retailers have Varta and Exide (?) alternatives at £50 (£58 with postage). Does anyone know if these are likely to be any good, and how much Ford will charge for a replacement?

Many thanks

Go for the one with the longest guarantee. Your local generic car parts place may be able to offer a good deal.

Thanks for the replies. Ford were priced at £95 a pop, but a local independent shop had a half-decent one for £45, so I went for that one.

Cheers!
