Went into my local Ford Dealership, to enquire about buying one of these superb new cars, which I'm told are all sold.

Well talk about the most rude and unhelpful salesman with a strange attitude. Had to invite myself to sit down and try ask for any details and a test drive. He reluctantly took my details and kept saying all 2000 sold. Yes I KNOW!! they are but, maybe there will eb acancelled order somewhere in the UK or someone lose their job or don't get credit ... his reply ... evreyone who has placed an order HAVE THE MONEY!!! Really arrogant young man we will see and I will be buying, maybe a cancelled order or a ex-demo what have you but not from you.

Thought I only got this level of service from more dare I say ... supercar marques.

PS. Absolutely NO marketing material at all and ther will be none, not Ford Policy he said, saving the rain forest ...

Hi

Let me apolagise before i start ranting, to any car salesman on here that are Petrol heads and know their product this is not aimed at you....

I am a Salesman by trade and i sell very expensive and specialised machinery to proberly the most awkward type of customer Farmers.... I deal with upto 100 manafacturers who sell maybe 40 or 50 diffrent product ranges each, If i don't know the products inside out or don't create the right impression when i meet people for the first time, it is plain and simple i won't have a job.....

But alot of car salesman seem to be able to work as salesman but have no knowledge of the product they are trying to sell, the times i have sat opposite car salesman and asked simple questions about their cars and specs and got really silly or incorrect answers is amazing....
Lets face it 75% of their job is done for by the customer walking in the door.

If you work at a Ford Dealership and have no enthsiasim to sell a New RS to a potential customer he should not have a job. And lets face it if Ford have pre sold all 2000 cars, it just means in 6 months time they will build another 5000-10000 cars and flood the market, just they have done with the ST.

Sorry Guys Rant Over, this subject really Winds me up....

This is when the PH name and shame rule is a pain. You want to say who it is and we're all interested. If it did nothing but give him a kick up the arse it'd be a start.

Maybe he's hiding the brochures to stop punters finding out that it hasn't got 4WD or something...

At this point I should point out that due to EU law, you must have a discussion on the lack of and worth of 4WD if the car is an RS. I therefore, by posting this, fulfil that requirement and we can all sleep well tonight knowing that we won't have to hide behind a wardrobe for months from the multi wheel driven party.

I put my name down for an RS back in October. Salesman said Ford would be in touch during Dec to finalize my options and take a deposit. Well they still haven't got in touch so do they think they've sold me a car or what?

To be honest I'm not bothered enough to find out and will probably buy a 911 instead.

Ford have lost a sale as a result of their apathy.

Hope you use spell check before you print their invoice for their "expensive and specialised" machinery???

I've worked in a dealership that sold "the best4x4xfar" and IMHO, most of the farmers are proper people who don't have their heads up their a***s, its the salesmen that like to think of themselves as the most important link between you and the car you want to buy, i've had this before when i was "toying" with buying a used ST200, i had serious attitude from the guy cos i was in my work gear and he was almost questioning if i was worthy of buying the car. I told him i was gonna buy from another dealership 20 mins down the road and his jaw hit the floor when i got into and drove off in an RS500!! (admittedly the car wasn't mine but i wasn't gonna let on it was a customers i had just valeted and was on route to returning. BTW the "customer" was my best mate also before you think i was hooning around in it!! lol)

Reminds me of a time I looked at a 2.2 honda prelude, it was up at £7,500 and the salesmans opening words were 'It's a nice car that son but don't waste my time if you can't afford it!' I made a point of going back to see him just to show him the sales invoice for the ST170 I purchased across the road for more money than his car later the same day.

Yes I realise that makes me sound like a bit of a cock but he was too

Don't worry, Ford Customer Services have the same attitude. I posted a while ago that my 08 Mondeo vomits ~ 1 litre of diesel onto the floor every time I fill up. One year on Ford are still adamant it's designed to do that, refuse to do anything about it under warranty and apparently I still haven't learned how to fill up a car properly (over 40 & driving more years than I care to remember!!!). Oh yes, and then there's the built in sat nav that doesn't work and I'm still waiting the aforementioned year on for the update disc to fix it from Hungary, that Ford claim is nothing to do with them!!! Well do you know what Ford, I'll never buy another of your products again, your whole attitude sucks and frankly I now can't wait to get rid. Mandy - don't give any cash to Ford please: they'll only invest it in Woolworths shares.

I was on passionford.com the other day and a member was selling the order of his white RS due to his job or something. He wasn't asking for anything extra just the deposit back he had already paid. Great deal if your not one for waiting.

Dear Mr carreraboy

First of all may I thank you for your total denigration of super car salesmen
So refreshing to hear such an unbiased view but then again you do seem to be a Porsche customer so that must be expected from you
Perhaps the Ford salesman should have said sorry sir but all of our allocation are sold maybe I could take your details and if somebody decides to cancel then we could give you a call and arrange a test-drive and take your deposit (So that you don’t waste his time testing a car that you buy from another dealer halfway across the country when he could have been earning £50 for selling a fiesta to an old lady who was there to buy a car that was available) please excuse the lack of punctuation

So are they only selling 2000 cars? hardly seems worth their while!

I'm hoping to replace my current car with one of these in a few years.

Exactly smile When I was told I'd have to spec and make the first payment for the RS in the first week of December I started looking at what else 25-30k would get me.

Shortlist for me is: 997s, Exige S, Z4MC.

I had the opposite experience at People's Ford in Edinburgh. I've been in before, asking about Focus ST3s before buying an RX8 because their attitude was so poor, so expected much the same, but the salesman turned out to be an absolute RS fanboy, in a good way I must add, and ended up having a 30 minute chat about all kind of car related stuff. They didn't have any brochures but he went out of his way to print out everything they had on computer and even showed me the list of cars they had ordered. I left far more impressed than the risible attitude of VW, Audi, BMW and, even, Subaru (who can't affodr to lose any more customers surely) have shown me in the past 3 months.

As for being told there will only be 2000, that's a complete fabrication. Ford will build as many as people order for the next 24 months. They have scheduled an approximate 8000 to be built based on current demand, 50% of which will come to the UK. They also had two of their ten allocated cars unsold. Both white, one with leather, one without, no other options. It's the Sighthill branch if anyone phones them, and speak to Steve Hinks (I think that surname is right).
