Hi
I manage to somehow blow the camshaft and possibly blow the big ends on he pistons on my zetec s (55)( Ive been told , it may be worse)
Im I just better off getting a new engine ?
If so could I put an st150 into it...thier exactly the same chassi gearbox etc but will this be alot of hassle instead of just putting a zetec engine back in.
If it is what i suspect will it be alot to repair ie over a grand
Ive just finnished paying for the car and now this

I suspect changing the engine type would need a new ECU and various sensors etc. It would also impact considerably on your insurance. Your best bet would probably to go for one of the same type from a crash damaged vehicle. Obviously it would need to be rear-ended or whatever and preferably with at least a short warranty.
Im sorry to hear about your engine troubles but it would probably be easier to put another 1.6 duratec engine into your Zetec S. The ST150 engine would require new engine loom, ECU, front suspension, uprated brakes and an ST150 gearbox. The gearbox is the same IB5 in your Zetec S but a different bellhousing would be required so it can be fitted to the 2.0 engine. Either that or get an ST.
