Funny steering 03 Focus

My wife has nicked my Alfa as her Focus is misbehaving. THe steering in general use is very heavy but occasionally goes very light. I am thinking power steering pump or hopefully just slipping belt ?? Any suggestions ???? 112K Miles 2.0 Zetec

possible the universal joint (UJ) on the steering rack, or lack of fluid, or the problems you mention like the slipping belt.

best to get that looked at.
