Funny one this...

Our 51 Mondeo Zetec V6 almost constantly has the cooling fans on, occasionally they go off for a few seconds then restart immediately. The engine temp is fine and sits as it did before this problem started and the water level is fine.

It all started after a tuning guy 'tuned' the car, oil change etc. We had him back, he had a read out that the aircon thinks the in car temp is 17,000,000 degrees! ECU reset didn't cure this.

Has anyone had a similar experience or can anyone offer any pointers as to what's up? I fear a trip to the dealer otherwise....

Cheers

Tuning guy? What did he tune exactly?

I havent looked at the Mk3, but I still presume it's on a fan switch, and it's been left perm on or something's cross wired.

If both fans are on then it's an A/C fault(funnily enough).

Cheers for the replies gents.

When I say 'tune' I do mean the loosest sense of the word, purely as he is a mobile tuner. We called him out for an oil change and to investigate an intermittent rough idle problem. He seemed to think it may be a sticky valve. It had an oil flush, Forte top end treatment, obviously new oil and a fuel system flush. Something did help as the rough idle has been history for the last 4 - 5000 miles. Other than this I don't think he did anything else to the car, except he did plug in his diagnostic equipment to check for faults. I expect this is probably the most likely cause of this problem

Yep I'm pretty sure it is an air-con fault, I just wondered if anyone had had a similar experience hence the qeustion. Over on the TVR forum if you've got a problem someone else it bound to have also had it/know what the cause is, I guess Fords don't play up quite so often!

Exactly same thing is happening with my ST220...cant really hear it inside car but outside fan sounds like a blumming aeroplane engine.

Doesnt cause me any problems so I have left it. Be good to know if you find out what the problem is.
