Hi i have a 1991 xr2i 1.6 8valve its been off the road for about 6 months and im now getting it ready to go back on the road however the last 3 times i have started it and left it running the oil cap after about 10 mins pops off at some force

Any ideas?!?!

its the simple push on design not the push and screw any help greatly appreciated

used to get that with my mk2 xr2. insulation tape helped for a while but then decided to get off my backside and get a new cap as the rubber inside had gone all hard, just try a new cap first and if it still does it try a comp test to see if its that causing the problem

I had a compression test done not long ago and it was good. Will try a new cap see if that makes any difference just worried its something major have not long had the head done on it

This could be caused by piston rings sticking due to corrosion during the lay up period, it may settle down after a good run, but if not, remove plugs when hot and squirt wd40 in cylinders and leave overnight.
Also check the breathers aren't blocked.

i'd go with blocked breathers, take them off and de-gunge them.

Think i have found the problem where i put the k&n back on the breather pipe from the rocker cover that feeds into there is kinked
What an idiot i am!
