'98 Focus 1.6 bottom end gone - best solution?

Hi all
I'm pretty certainly the bottom end bearings on my 1998(s) Focus 1.6 have had their last revolution.
Low knocking sound that increases with revs, still compression on all cylinders.
So, I'm trying to work out if it's better/easier to replace the whole engine a straight swap, or replace the bottom shells? However I'm having trouble pricing the bottom shells etc (what else would I need, if anything?) versus swopping the engine?
Anybody know of good places to source such things, and an idea on relative cost/merits to sort?

I know from Ford the parts aren't available seperately. They'll only sell you an assembled block! It's such a common engine I'd look into finding a replacement block. With a rebuild you're look at the price of bearings, a re-grind, bore honing and piston rings (silly not to while you're there) plus the obvious gaskets and belts.
I had to rebuild one of my bottom ends because no replacement engines were around at the time (4 appeared the day I'd finished it though!). With all the above, plus a bit of lightening and balancing it touched £400 for labour, bearings and thrust washers alone! This wasn't a Zetec admittedly, but I can't see the price being different.
I'd look for a good used block. Mileage not important if theres good history. They still use the engine today, known as the Zetec-S or Zetec-SE. Check out Focus, Fiesta mk4 on, Fusion and Puma (later models may need adjustment to coolant flanges etc). The 1.4 is the same, just smaller, so you could always fit a 1.4 block and injectors, and re-register it for cheaper car tax!
Ignore the 1.8/2.0 models. The Zetec-E engine is totally different.
