My current bangenomics shed is a m reg Fiesta 1.3 LX, with a cable not hydraulic clutch.
The clutch bite point is very low to the floor and I'm led to believe that the ratchet mechanism behind the clutch pedal is a known wear item.
two questions...
1) is this the part i need?
ebay link
2) how fidly is it to do? (have a Haynes to help but is it a major ball-ache?)

thanks.

Sounds like you are on the right lines and the ratchet and pawl set up needs replacing.

Does the pedal click when you press/release it?

In answer to your questions:

1) Yes that is the part you need.
2) They are straightforward to do but can be a bit fiddly.
I can't remember with the Mk3 if you have to remove the pedal box to get the clutch pedal out or if you can do it without.

On my Mk2 I had to take the pedal box out then strip the clutch/brake pedal down on a bench.
Either way is easy as long as you remember where all the bits came from. smile

Migth also be worth changing the pivot shaft bushes, if the pedal has any play as sideways movement makes the whole thing much less efficient. If it's tight, that'll do the job as stated. It's still available from Ford for under a tenner IIRC. Very common on Fez, Escort and smiley Transit.

Thanks guys.
No click from pedal, actuation is smooth and pedal return is fine just the low bite.
According to the haynes i need to remove all the pedals, looks like i'll bite the bullet and give it a go, probably bloddy a few knuckles and turn the air blue while I'm at it smile

Pedal box comes out easy.

It's really not a difficult job. smile
