Ford Ranger?????

Hello all, I am looking for a few peoples perspectives on used Ford Rangers. I used to have one as a work vehicle but it was a year and 20k miles old so I've got no idea of how they age/clock up the miles. I am looking at a few 4X4s for some contract work and I am looking at 5 year old, 60k double cabs. Anyone offer any reviews on them and what to look for/look out for? Thanks.
The only things I can tell you about them are leave it in 4wd mode all the time (especially in the wet) and never accelerate when leaving a wet roundabout if your Ranger has been remapped and has 20" bling alloys and cheap barely legal tyres fitted.

I drove one for two years around Northern Ireland so I know how keen to spin they are. The same with nearly all pickups though is they are designed to carry a load so empty in RWD they are lethal. I was impressed with their offroad ability, with a decent set of all terrain tyres they could take on most things. I am keen to find out how they last the test of time. Would one be buggered by 60k and 5 years is my main enquiry???
I spent the last 18 months working on a new windfarm and we had an 05 ranger for general site use.It's done 59000 miles and the abuse that thing got was quite ridicoulous really!Anyway,the only part of it that gave any trouble was the rear suspension.It had a tendency to demolish leaf springs.(bear in mind it didn't actually see the main road for months at a time)other than that a great workhorse
i realise this thread is a little bit old now but i thought i would contribute, working as a mechanic i often worked on rangers coming in from a quarry site, the same quarry site a mate works at and these rangers are seriously abused on the quarry and see maybe 20 miles a year on the road.
most of the rangers would come in to the work shop only a few years old (up to about 4 maybe 5 years old) with up 190 000 miles on the clock (a bit high for a company vehicle i think but still)
they only ever came in with damaged coil springs rotten brake lines and incredibly f**ked discks pads and calipers.... no bare in mind these came in once a year for a service and mot and the fact they are constantly abused sometimes 24 hrs a day driven through cla, ash mounds etc etc i personaly think they are a bloody strong 4x4.
also had one as a works vehicle and it pulled stupdly well,we towed a van without really feeling it.
