picking up my new rs focus next week can any one tell me does it need to be run in for so many miles

The engine - not really. The other parts (brakes, tyres, clutch etc) - give it 500 miles before spanking it too hard. Don't labour the engine.

when i picked up mine i got a letter with it stating that the rs must not excced 5000rpm for first 500 mile only use 3/4 throttle and keep a eye on the oil level and i had to sign a disclaimer. but 500 miles soon passes the let her do its stuff bang on!!!
