Having driven both, I am surprised Ford has discontinued the Puma unit...did I drive a duff PSA unit? Every aspect of it was worse apart from MPG, which was stonkingly good.

Puma units are still in the transits i think , its that god awfull gutless pile of 1.8 pig iron they need to kill off . Ive heard that it wont meet euro 5 emissions so it will die soon .

Made me laugh though new mondeo 2.0 115ps decent puma engine gets replaced by the 1.8 lynx turd

Oh yes, the 8 valve pig iron thing. I've had the pleasure of driving one of those, was horrible although it somehow managed to return 52mpg mixed driving.

Im surprised they havent put the 1.6 tdci PSA in the mondeo, much like they have with Volvo V70. I quite like the old lynx engined mondeos and dont know why they dropped it from the range. They still use the 2.2 and bigger 2.4 lynx engines in the transits.

They are puma engines , the lynx is the nasty 1.8 thing that emerged from the 1.6 diesel fords of the mid 80's .....(awaits to be told its a completely different engine....) which if thats the case why didn't they make something half decent
