What, in terms of handling and suspension, are the differences between the above?
How hard/expensive would it be to turn a Ghia V6 into something that drives like a ST24 if you didn't like the RSAP bodykit but wanted the hatch?

Cheers in advance.

I am pretty sure the differences between si, st24, and ghia 2.5v6 were only cosmetic i.e RSA bodykit.

Ghia's have slightly softer suspension, can't remember if the Mk2 ST's were lower than the standard car, i don't think they were, but i have a feeling the ST220 was slightly lower.

Some ST24s were made without the RSAP kit...

I'm looking specifically at the mk1 ST24 Mondeo compared to the Ghia and Si models. I've not seen a 5 door Mondeo ST24 without the bodykit yet.

I thought the ST24 was a Mk2...

I know someone with an ST24 without the RSAP kit, but unless you're offering silly money, I doubt he'll sell!

If its mk2, and you don't want the RSA bodykit on the st24, go for the Si, just as good to drive, with nicer wheels imo. You lose half leathers but most will tatty by now I expect.

No point hunting down a non-RSA st24, when it's almost identical to an Si.

ETA iirc the non-rsa pack st24 were availible when the st24 was first released, before adding it as standard on the st24 later on.

I remember seeing a non-rsa st24 saloon on the dealers forecourt at release, which is bloody rare I believe.

Ah yes, I'd got my mk2 and mk3's confused. The mk1 to mk2 change was the new headlights and grille? The Mk3 being the more angular design?

If the Si and ST24 have the same suspension then that's great as the Si seems to be cheaper than the ST24 for some reason.

only 2 of those have the v6 engine though, and only one with the 2.5v6. i actually went to look at the 2nd one down, the advert doesn`t tell you its got a dent in the boot, no service history, a squeeky cambelt, rubbish tyres with a flat and has done 98k miles (the last point not being a problem if the cambelt has been done although there is no record of this so it probably hasnt as it squeeks).

You were confusing Mk1 and Mk2 - so I used these random examples to show the different body styles.

If you want me to find you a car, that's a different conversation altogether!

i wasn`t confusing a mk1 and mk2 at all, i was just stating that only one of them was the 2.5v6 and that i had been to view the 2.0 zetec myself. i know my fords. perhaps you were confusing me with the OP.

Confused you with OP, sorry.

My point stands though - was helping OP determine the correct Mk. smile
