Hi all,

I've got a Y-plate 1.7 Black edition with the standard fit 9-spoke rims. Need some new tyres fairly soon but wondering what people recommend as best for the car? Want to put something relatively decent on but don't know which ones are any good these days.

All advice much appreciated - thanks in advance! smile

What size dude? I've seen Goodyear Eagles on a Puma before. If you can get those then that's your best bet.

Goodyear Eagle F1's or Toyo T1R's, I think the Eagles are more expensive ( im guessing 195/50/15 tyre size ). Both are great tyres, I use Toyos myself, dont expect them to last long biggrin.

The Black came with a specific set of "F1" alloys... like these...

Hey folks,

I suppose tyre size would've been useful! rotate But yes, they're 195/50/15's and I may have got my car edition wrong then as they're not the ones in Podie's photo. More a flat-spoke design (could be the Millenium rim?)

Got some experience with performance cars & tyres but have found amazing differences depending on which car they're on. So no surprise to see G'year Eagles and Toyo T1R's listed there. Just wasn't sure how they'd work on the Puma. I'd actually heard there was a Michelin that worked really well but couldn't remember the type. Will check out the aforementioned ones though.

Cheers muchly!

Black edition should have the Lux pack (heated front screen), with leather trim and be a 1.7.

michelins are always the best in my experience although also the most expensive.

falken tyres seem very good and well priced too.

A quick update...

After some deliberation (and then some cunning haggling! phone), went for the Michelin Pilot Exalto's...

...awesome! Although they were (initially) more expensive than most, I managed to get 4 for £240 fitted after above negotiations (first off quotes started at £70 and went upwards past £90 each at some places!) and though only 600 miles covered thus far so barely scrubbed in, are already proving better than previous Pirelli's in all aspects. Turn in is better, dry and wet (massive difference - so much more confidence inspiring!) grip vastly increased and higher speed stability is great. Can't wait to get them properly bedded in and some dry weather to try them out fully round some twisties! driving

So thanks for the advice all - just goes to prove that decent tyres do make all the difference

PE2s are awesome tyres.

I had them as OE fit on my 182 and also fitted them to my 205.

FOr me they are perfect as they are 'invisible' they simply do the job to a very high standard, what you imagine a performance tyre to be.

If I go for the Puma this weekend they will be going on soon afterwards.

Also, if you can get yourself a Costco card you can get them for about £180 fitted biggrin
