I read yesterday that Ford dealers can lower the RS's drivers seat by about an inch if you ask (& probably pay) them nicely. Has anyone had this done? If so, what do they actually do... sounds like a potential home modification if it's only 20mins work.

Apparently the ST & RS's seats are set at the same as in the regular Crocus due to type approval / crash test rules. If Ford were to change the height for the ST & RS, they would have had to have been re-type approved / crash tested. Given the daft rules in the EU, this sounds plausable.

Interestingly I never found the ST's seat that high (I'm 5-11), but I'd be intreagued to hear if any one has had the mod done as I might give it a go on the ST (assuming the same can be done) before the RS arrives next yr. Afterall, there's a little level that allows me to move it back up a bit if it's too low anyway!!

The Recaros in the RS have two sets of mounting holes about 2cm apart. The factory use the higher ones. The AD's will use the lower ones.

I have lowered the seat on my RS, its an easy job, 20 mins, 4 bolts. To be honest, i never found the seat to be too high even though i'm 6ft2, but thought i'd try the lower setting, it does make quite a difference & makes you feel you're sitting more in the car, worth trying to see how it suits you.

I heard the seat needed to come out to get the inner bolts, if its that easy i might give it a go.

Taking the seat out doesn't throw up any issues with the ECU? I know if you pull a seat out of a Porsche it throws up a load of diagnostic crap.

Just the RS, or is this applicable to the ST ones too?
