Guys,

I posted months ago asking if the ST TDCI is known for "moosing" noises like the ST220.

Anyway, the noise has got worse. Car is fine once warmed up. There is an exagerated diesel noise from the back left of the engine, but it's the background vibration noise, actually more a rubbling noise, that's bothering me, very noticable in the car when pulling away cold.

Listen especially between 15 & 20 seconds.

Car runs out of warranty in 3 weeks. Last time it was in they said it was normal. What do you guys think?

The rumbling noise could possibly be either a auxiliary belt tensioner or there were a batch of crank pulleys that need to be check for causing rumbling noise symptoms. The noise should go away if you raise the revs above idle.

When you say back left, do you mean left from the drivers seat or looking from the front?
Difficult to diagnose over the net, but it sounds like it could be a knackered dual mass flywheel to me.

Back left looking into the engine bay from the front of the car.

I don't have personal experience of it, but I believe there is a problem with the turbo pipe bracket fouling the subframe n/s/f.
These sort of noises can be misleading,as they often sound to be coming from a different area than the cause.

Hi

All TDCI's suffer from noise from pulley's....

It is what gives that diesel knock noise on tick over and low revs...

Could be worth a look depending on what miles you have covered.

Thanks, been told there was a service bulletin for this, 18/2005. It's booked in for next week.

90% sure that's the crank pulley making that noise. As you say there was a TSB issued regarding that.

Have you had your rear bumper replaced yet on that TSB?
