How stupid are they?

Camskill do some new Kuhmo tyres but that is it. We have run the older Kuhmo on there for four years, but the these are a new variety so not sure how good they will be and we could do with four. Don't want to spend £260 on tyres that are not very nice smile

What would be the best size to move to from the above? 215/55 (fairly big speedo under read), or maybe 205/50 (1.5% speedo over read)...

I'm tempted to buy some 205/50's but not sure... so interested in others views.

Thanks

Dave

Hi dave.

My st24 run`s on 205/50/16`s with no problem.

215`s seem over tyred to me.

Used to run my Cougar on Bridgestone RE010 tyres which can be got in 215/50 16 - but you have to look hard.

They were EXTREMELY good.

Switched to the Kumho's which you've been using and found them fine.

I'd say go with the new Kumho's unless you fancy going hunting for the Bridgestones.

Most Coug's I've seen with non-standard have gone for 225/50

Hehe, hmmm, so much choice.

My partner said just to get the Kuhmo for now, and then she might get some new wheels in the new year anyway... so will have to do some wheel research now to see what suits the best... ST170 wheels might look nice... just such an arse to clean!

Ran mine with 17 inch wheels similar to the ST170's (they were Allessio Monzas) for a while.

Really suited the cougar well. Will see if I can find a pic.

Well, I decided on some Toyo T1-R 205/50R16 87W's

Only down a tad on the load rating but the car is 99.9% used with just my partner in there, so not a huge issue, up on speed rating vs OEM, and the width seems more sensible for nice sweet handling with a 205 on a 6.5" rim.

Will let you all know how they go smile

Cheers for the help

£251.40 delivered, Camskill charged about £9 for delivery. They are being delivered tomorrow though, so nice and quick.
We will be fitting ourselves though, since I paid for an automatic tyre machine so want to make use of it. Just the balancing will need doing somewhere but can get that done at Ford for £20 for all four just down the road smile

Cheers

Dave
