Hi guys,

I have little clue about cars (alas) but was advised to post on the forums here. My Ford KA apparently needs a new clutch and the local Ford dealer has said that it will cost £713. This seems like a huge amount to me - can anyone advise what I should be paying? Will the price be affected by living in stupid expensive London?

Thanks in advance,

Charlotte

They also said that I needed 2 new tyres at £73.60 each plus tracking @ £75. I knew that these would need doing soon but I suspect that I can get them cheaper. And also a brake fluid change for £130.

Does anyone know of a good independent in South West London area? I'm in Wandsworth.

Thanks.

The clutch including the concentric slave cylinder (which you should change at the same time) is around the £120 mark, a decent independant garage should be able to do the job for around £100. So £220-£250 tops for the complete job would be a fair price. Do NOT pay the Ford main dealer to do it!
Tyres would be around the £40 mark each & tracking around £20-£25.
Brake fluid change around the £50 mark, again, use independants!
Hope thats of some help! biggrin

I recently had my clutch and slave done on my 02 plate Ka.

Took it to an indie and was charged £200 all in.

Don't take it to a Ford Garage they see it as open season for pricing...
