Throttle Bodies
Discussion
I looked into getting ITB's for my R32.
It amazing how 'hard' it is to find info on them
Still a lot of learning going on with them.
They are the N/A equivalent to a Turbo or Supercharger, though more costly (a lot of engine work, and ECU management required to get them working properly for road use).
There are a couple of specialist companies out there that do custom kits;
Angel technologies are one I've looked at;

You're looking at around a 20% gain in performance from a decent setup. Fuel consumption will increase of course
, but shouldn't be too large an increase if the ECU management is done right. Throttle response is greatly improved, butt this is where things get complicated for road use, as you obviously do not want a too aggressive response since you'll end up in the back of someones car very quickly
As I've said, it's an expensive route to go, but if you want to keep down the N/A route, like me, then it's the next step up as far as performance upgrades go. You'll probably want to have the cams upgraded first.
Plus, the 'Sound' they produce is absolutely amazing!!!! Much better than the nasty whine of a charger :P
