Wanting to buy a Mk1 Capri
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase a Capri, specifically a Mk1. I've always promised myself a classic to tinker on when space, and funds would permit.
Fortunately, I've just rented a 400sq ft storage unit, which I've put up a mezzanine floor, doubling the space. This has left me a nice lot of room for all o my engineering equipment, and a lovely place to sit a car to tinker on, and enjoy
I've always loved the shape of a mk1 Capri, so this is what I am hunting down. I've come across a 1974 1600 GT, as of yet Im not sure if it is an x, l, r etc.
Its done 42k, and has one previous owner, it needs a bit of attention to the brakes, and one cill. The main area of concern is under the vinyl roof.
The pillars going down to the rear wheels is quite soft.
It feels like there is a number of rusted holes, underneath the vinyl, just up from the chrome trim.
I'm guessing this is a reaosnably common problem area, and wondered what sort of work I am in for sorting it out?
Any one with a rough idea of costs etc would be greatly received.
Many thanks
Matt
