st200 abs

my st200 has developped an abs fault I was accerating gently and the abs light came on so did the tc , handbrake warning light then the abs faided and turned red and blew tc when off but the handbrake light stayed on
I pulled over checked everything over i still had brakes it didnt feel any differnt , got home changed the abs led in the back of the dsah and it has done the same again

checked all the sensors and earth leads

any ideas ???

We've done a couple of ABS modules at work on these recently, but I won't tell how much they are unless you're sitting down!

All the sensors are spot on, yeah? Only thing that I wonder about is why it's affecting the handbrake light? Shoudn't do that!

at rought guess half the cost of the car ??

yeap all sensors are ok couldnt see anything wrong with any of them and I checked all the conections

I am thinking I have more than one problem with my car

Have you checked the toothed gear that the ABS sensor senses? A missing tooth or blocked teeth might well make the ABS/TC activate.

just found a piece of rust on one sensor could that make the system inactive ?
it went thru its self check routine like normal
when it was there

I imagine some rust would hide the toothed wheel from the sensor, giving an intermittent signal, so making the controller think the wheel is rapidly speeding up and slowing down.

the good news is that the systems work as as normal includeing tc,abs ,handbrake warnign light

they all seem to have an intermittant fault have checked the earths again

replaced the abs bulb this morning and its working till it decide it dosnt want to
if that makes any sense


there is light at the end of the tunnel I think
