I bought MV55WFA earlier this year. The crankshaft bearing went soon after purchase. After a long battle I have got my money back for the car. The car is now up for sale at the same dealer. I have no idea if or what repairs have been carried out, but the last report I had on the car was that the engine was in pieces and a brand new replacement engine was needed.

The car is a silver hatchback with just under 40k on the clock.

If anyone would like any more details then feel free to ask.

If the crank bearing went(which has been known on the V6) then the engine would have been toast. There are no cranks available only short blocks so they would have had to replace it (unless a s/h lump was fitted). If a new recon engine was fitted then no big deal really.

A repair was (originally) quoted at £4500, a new engine would be £6500. Any potential buyer of this car needs to know what has happened to this car. I do not know what kind of repair has been carried out on this car.

I know full well what the prices are as mine was in bits with 1400 miles on the clock! Like i said, they had two choices, fit a s/h engine(from a write off) or fit a short block(they wouldn't fit a new fully dressed engine as there is no need). Either way you have as much chance of further problems as you do with a brand new car(as i talk from experience) or any other s/h car for that matter. It's not like the thing was written off & they are hiding that fact is it?

Option 1
If I were to order a “NEW” engine, I would receive part No 4692589 at a cost of £3462,00 (+ vat)

However, this is detailed as a “Remanufactured” Engine, and is the only bare engine now available.

Option 2
This is what’s called a “Fully Dressed” engine, which comes complete with all ancillaries such as starter motor, manifolds etc etc.

Part No 4494000 at a cost of £5161,00 (+ vat)

Did it have other problems? I'm looking for another 220 & TBH if it has had a new engine then that would suit me. Did you buy from a Ford dealer? It is the same dealer selling it now? Thanks

No, no other problems. It wasn't from a Ford dealer and yes the same dealer is selling it. He doesn't have the V5, the handbook or the service history. It's up for sale for £1k more than I originally paid. I'm extremely suspect of what has happened to it in terms of a repair.

The service provided from this dealer has been appalling beyond belief and the issue is not yet closed. Find an alternative car.

No, you may still technically be the registered keeper, that doesn't equate to legal ownership in any way

Exactly, the person on the V5 is not the legal owner!

Is it just me, or is this thread a bit weird? Funny how a previous owner, seller and new owner of the car have managed to find themselves here...

Cheers guys and yeah il admit it is a bit foggy to me i just googled the numberplate and it lead me here and onto another forum for ST owners where the same post has been made.

I have done all the checks on the car that i could myself (HPI etc) and all came back perfectly ok and when i was buying the car i was promiced by the dealer a fully stamed up service book i also have this in writing to prove and he has also signed this document. During the day i have been online and got all the previous MOT's for the car and all seems to be well with those.

I'm assuming the bearing has been done as the car is now in full working order with no squeeks rattles or other signs of something that could be wrong or bodged. I only wish to find out why it went in the first place after such a short amount of time and with very few miles on the car. I also wish to find out any other infomation about the car's previous life.
