Just bought a 56 Focus ST-2 (11k miles), picking it up on the weekend ... the ford dealer is trying to sell me the extended 3 yr warranty for £799, but I'm not too sure?

It looks like a good warranty, full parts and labour & VAT ... But Focus' are pretty bullet proof and so is the Volvo engine, aren't they?

I had a warranty on my Alfa GTV, but that was expensive to repair .. not sure about the ST.

I have cleared 100k in just over 18 months and my st has never let me down, sometimes doing up to 2k a week, aside from service and the auto lights, wiper sensor giving up nothing has went wrong at all, mines an 07 plate !

I've gone for the warranty in the end ... it worked out at £266 a year, that included breakdown cover and discounted servicing.

But it's good to know that they can take that kind of punishment, 2k a week is alot of miles to pile on.

A bit late fo you but I've owned my '06 ST2 from new and it has been faultless in that time. Not even had so much as a bulb blow.

A bit later still & just as useless (biggrin), the only problem I've had with mine in 57k is a sqeaky, creaky drivers seat, fixed under warranty in the first 12 months (I don't think it is covered after that).
Otherwise, rock solid! Although that's most likely tempting fate rolleyes

However, by the time you've taken off the 3 years breakdown & the value of the service price cut, I guess that it is probably reasonable value, just a decent up front wedge to find.
