Snow Chain Problems

Thinking of driving to the slopes with the family, having SMaxed our lives, I have discovered that apparently snow chains won't fit (insufficient clearance). Foolishly I did not check this item before I bought the car.

Winter tyres are an expensive option and do not remove the occasional need for chains. Any advice/experience on how to deal with this would be appreciated.

The only option really is a cheap set of winter wheels and tyres .. and chains if they really are needed.

Old thread, I know ... but I know the answer.

You've not said if your car has 17s or 18s fitted as Ford say you should only put chians on 16" wheels.

However, if you buy small profile snowchains, they do fit and you can use them on 17" & 18" wheels/tyres. I've done it, safely.
