As above, the missus's focus brakes are crap. Really spongy and in my opinion not safe.
I've bled them, no better, fitted Hel braided hoses, bled again, no better.

Any ideas?

I would completely change the fluid.

That's my next step. Gonna put a litre through.

Can pads make a difference? I've got drilled and grooved discs with red dot fast road pads (from when I had the car). My try a set of standard pads.

Well, im not a fan of drilled and grooved disks. Had experience with them many years ago and they did nothing, apart from fill with brake dust.
I would change the fluid first .... its cheaper wink

What Fcous is it? Unless its a real powerful version that gets driven very hard grooved and drilled discs are pointless. iNfact your better off with a set of fast road pads, plain good quality discs and uprated brake fluid smile

it's a 1.8, but when I had it it had a few mods, exhaust, throttle body, pipercross ind. bluefin and 4 branch with de cat. And of course the brakes.

Now all the mods have been taken off, apart for the brakes.

But I must say, the brakes have never been very good but they do seem alot worse now than when I had the car.

I think they are Red Dot, so are a reasonable make.
